Loan Forgiveness Programs

Public Sector Employees

Public sector employees may be eligible for loan forgiveness for student loans. As an employee of the City of Worcester, you are a public sector employee. A qualifying loan for Public Sector Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) is any non-defaulted loan you received under the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) Program. More information...

If you qualify, you can complete the Public Service Employment Verification form, save it to your computer or tablet, and email it as an attachment to Deanna Paldino at PaldinoD@worc.k12.ma.us.

Teachers

Many teachers in the Worcester Public Schools can qualify for The Teacher Loan Forgiveness Program. Under this program, if you teach full-time for five complete and consecutive academic years in certain elementary and secondary schools and educational service agencies that serve low-income families, and meet other qualifications, you may be eligible for forgiveness on Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans, Subsidized and Unsubsidized Federal Stafford Loans, and Perkins Loans.
