College Readiness Program for Low-Income Students

The Worcester Public Library is partnering with Bottom Line to provide college readiness support to low-income students in the Worcester area. The programs are designed to help students navigate the admissions and financial aid process.

School-Located Influenza Clinics

The Worcester Public School Department of Nursing in coordination with the Worcester Department of Public Health will be holding Flu Clinics in all schools throughout the district during school hours. These clinics will take place during the weeks of October 19 - October 30. We invite all students to participate in this citywide flu vaccination initiative. A parent/guardian does not need to be present for your child to receive this vaccine but you are welcome to attend if you choose.

Worcester, MA – A series of 13 city-produced public service announcements, targeting the opioid epidemic facing Worcester, the state and the rest of the nation, will begin airing this week on cable television and social media.

Medal of Honor recipients Colonel Gordon R. Roberts and Staff Sergeant Ty M. Carter addressed an enthusiastic audience at Worcester Technical High School on 9/16/15. Colonel Roberts is a medal recipient from the Vietnam era, and Staff Sergeant Carter more recently in Afghanistan.

ACT Program Receives $10,000 Anonymous Donation

The Worcester Educational Development Foundation, Inc. (WEDF) has received a $10,000 donation from an anonymous donor to support the innovative therapy dogs program that is being implemented in the Academic Center for Transition (ACT) program at Chandler Magnet Elementary School. This is the second donation received by this donor to support this program.

WPS Offering FREE Breakfast & Lunch to ALL Students

Your Child Can Eat Breakfast and Lunch for FREE at school!

As part of the 2010 Healthy and Hunger-Free Kids Act, Worcester, along with other districts, will begin offering free meals to all students this school year.  For parents, that means no more forms to fill out, no online meal account to remember, no last minute scramble for change before the bus, and no more lunchboxes to pack.  All students can eat for free!

STUDENTS REPORT FOR SCHOOL

PRE-SCHOOL STUDENTS will report on August 31st, 2015 as stated in the individual notification letter sent to parents.

HEADSTART STUDENTS will report as stated in the individual notification letter sent to parents.

KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS will begin school on August 31st, 2015 .   The Worcester Public Schools will be screening Kindergarten children by appointment on August 26th , August 27th and August 28th .  If your child does not have an appointment for screening, contact the school your child is registered at after August 17th .

ALL STUDENTS – GRADES 1 - 12

Free Summer Meals for Kids 2015

The Worcester Pubic Schools is participating in the Summer Food Program.  Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of meal service.

Meals will be provided at 17 sites, days, and times as follows:
